“Save the people” – Buhari’s wife, Aisha cries Out

The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has called on her husband, Muhammadu Buhari, and service chiefs to “save the people”.

Mrs Buhari tweeted a video of her husband in a meeting with service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, accompanied by the Hausa word, #Achechijamaa, which means “save the people”.

A Hausa song calling on the President to save the North was also playing in the background.

The region is battling with Boko Haram in the North East and banditry and kidnapping in the North West and North Central.

There is ongoing widespread protests across the country to bring an end to police brutality and proscription of a notorious police unit, SARS.

The State Security Service, SSS, on Friday night grilled four leaders of Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, who are planning to stage protests over insecurity in the North, with a hashtag #EndInsecurityNow.

In June last year in Katsina, Mrs Buhari had lamented the killings in the North, saying “The security agents should either assist to take action or allow the situation continue until bandits finished killing our people.”

In her latest campaign against the killings, the wife of the president shared a Hausa song with the hashtag on her verified Facebook page.

Below is the translation of the song.

Please look at our situation
We need your help
The North is crying
Our blood is spilt
Our people are killed
Our property destroyed
Please look at our situation
Please protect us
