The Katsina State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of suspects in connection with the abduction of the mother of Governor Aminu Masari’s wife in March.

The Command’s spokesman,  SP Gambo Isah, who mentioned the arrests added that the suspects have been moved to Abuja where further pronouncements are expected to be made.

He said, “It is true that we have made several arrests in connection with the incident but the suspects have been moved to Abuja. The Force headquarters will make further pronouncements on the issue.”

The eighty-year-old Hajiya Maistiyari who is the mother of Binta, Governor Masari’s wife, was kidnapped last March and released a few days later.

The Command Spokesman also said there was no new development concerning the abduction of the Magajin Garin(the District head) of Daura, Alhaji Musa Umar. He assured the people that the command was working hard to ensure his freedom.

He said, “Apart from what was said at the Presidency, there had not been any new development concerning the abduction of the Daura district head. But I can assure you, we are working very hard towards seeing that the district head is rescued alive and we shall keep you posted.”

Meanwhile, Isah said the command recently made some arrests as part of efforts to curb crimes in the state.
