Renowned Professor of Law and Former Deputy Director General of the Nigerian Law School, Professor Ernest Ojukwu, SAN, has voiced out his support for young lawyer who dressed in an outrageous and flamboyant outfit while adorning Lawyers regalia in their pre and post call to bar photo-shoot.

Some photo-shoot of the new-wigs in flamboyant Lawyers Regalia trended on the internet last week during call to bar ceremony, drawing  condemnation and commendation alike from Lawyers.

A Lawyer, B. Inem Esq had petitioned the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee, LPDC over the outrageous outfits used by the Young lawyers.

But Prof. Ojukwu in a chat with BarristerNG.com said the young and bold lawyers made his day with their outfits.

According to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, “Our wig and gown is outdated, a fine suit will do and makes a lawyer look neat”.

He stated that it is high time the dress code is adjusted to current times as the Europeans don’t wears the wig and gown relics again. Even so when some courts in Nigeria don’t even have  a working electric fan.

Prof. Ojukwu argued that “A person, Lawyer or not, is addressed the way he/she is  dressed” and nobody should be judged negatively for dressing fine.
