Some lawyers in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, stormed the streets of Port Harcourt, the state capital on Tuesday in defiance to Governor Nyesom Wike’s directive.

According to one of the lawyers that spoke to us, Ogbom Goodluck Ogbom, Esq., “peaceful protest anywhere in the world, is a tool for registering dissatisfaction against institutional abnormalities and anti people policies. It’s constitutional, so long as it remains peaceful. Nobody should be harassed, dehumanized or killed for exercising their rights.

He stated that the right to protest is an inalienable right and not a gift or donation by state government.

They asked the police to listen to the protesters and carry out a holistic reform of Nigerian Police force and not window dressing and also end police brutality in Nigeria.

The protest was largely peace.
