COVID-19: Jigawa Judiciary Cancels 2020 Annual Court Vacation
Jigawa State Judiciary has cancelled the 2020 Annual Court Vacation.
This was made known in a legal notice signed by the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Aminu Sabo Ringim.
The Annual Court Vacation was earlier scheduled to commence from July 13 to September 11.
The Legal Notice made available to BarristerNG, reads “Whereas owing to the prolonged stay at home by the Honourable Judges without discharging their adjudicatory functions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“the volume of cases pending and the readiness of the Honourable Judges to attend to such cases expeditiously with a view to decongesting our Correctional Centres and the backlog of cases in the Court.
“By the provisions of section 274 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) the chief judge is empowered to make rules for regulating the Practice and procedure of the high court and as such I cancel the 2019/2020 Annual Court Vacation scheduled to commence from July 13 to September 11.
