Below is the full statement;
The appointment of Abubakar Garba by President Muhammadu Buhari as the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) must be added as one of the biggest tragedies of 2020.
The Registar-General have single handedly destroyed the integrity and reputation lawyers have painstakingly built over the years. Before clients, lawyers now wear the garb of incompetence forced on them by this clueless man.
From making unguarded utterances about lawyers to turning the commission to a monumental failure, the Registrar-General is a disaster. He has no idea on how to run the Commission. Apparently, he is not equipped for 21st century leadership. Too inept.
Earlier this year, in the wake of his appointment, Mr Abubakar pledged his unflinching support and loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. Imagine that. This same man boasted that he would transform the Commission to a world-class institution.
Under his watch, the CAC have turned to a shadow of itself. Nothing works there anymore. Painful delays; missing files; snail-speed bottlenecks; lack of mutual respect for the bar; systemic extortion of lawyers and by extension clients through courier companies; archaic communication channels between the Commission and customers; the list is endless.
The CAC Registrar-General should resign or in the alternative get sacked.
