With Justice Agbadu-Fishim facing Dismissal for Receiving “Gifts”, Should NBA President, Paul Usoro SAN be worried?
Today, The National Judicial Council (NJC) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to dismiss two judges accused of corruption by the anti-graft agency, EFCC. One of the judges is Honorable Justice James Agbadu-Fishim of National Industrial Court.
Among other things, Justice James Agbadu-Fishim was recommended for removal by dismissal from office sequel to the findings of the Council on the allegations contained in another petition by the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleging that the Hon. Judge received various sums of money from litigants and lawyers that had cases before him, and some influential Nigerians, under the false pretense that he was bereaved or that there was delay in the payment of his salary. This, the Council finds, is contrary to the Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Among those found to have sent monies to the embattled Judge is the Firm of the current revolutionary president of the NBA, Paul Usoro SAN.
While critics of Mr Usoro like former Chairman of Nigerian Human Rights Commission, Prof Chidi Odinkalu accused the NBA Boss of being guilty of “bribing a judge“, The NBA Boss has vehemently denied that his firms “gifts” to the judge was a bribe. He also stated that Justice Agbadu-Fishim is not charged for receiving bribes from his firm.
With this new turn of events and Justice Agbadu-Fishim suspension and recommendation for his dismissal for receiving “gifts” from people contrary to ethical codes,……. SHOULD THE BRAND NEW, REVOLUTIONARY NBA PRESIDENT BE WORRIED?.
