Ufuoma Peace Oghenerume: The Inspiring story of Crash Survivor Called To Bar on a Wheelchair
Sitting on a wheelchair and beaming with smile, anybody seeing Miss Ufuoma Peace Oghenerume during the call to bar ceremony that just ended at the Nigerian Law School Abuja, will not know that until September 2019, few weeks ago, she was an able bodied and vibrant young lady and Nigerian Bar aspirant who was eagerly looking forward to her call to bar.
But Miss Ufuoma is a fighter who just defeated death. On september 16th 2019, having successfully scaled through the “almighty bar final” examination at the law school, she entered an 18 seater bus from Abuja to Makurdi as she needed to do her clearance with the Benue State University in preparation for call to bar clearance. The bus had a horrible collision with a trailer lorry at Nasarawa Eggon hills and 16 passengers died on the spot leaving Miss Ufuoma and another passenger gravely injured and fighting for their lives.
Destiny, it is said cannot be denied and this is being evidenced in the life of Miss Ufuoma Peace Oghenerume, as notwithstanding her tragedy, she fought on, her personality endeared her to her colleagues who crowd funded her treatment at National Hospital Abuja where she had multiple surgeries.
She endured the excruciating pains of multiple surgeries to be at the call to bar and to achieve what she had worked for all her life. So the smile she wore on the day of her call notwithstanding the tragedy she passed through was the smile of victory. She conquered pain, Conquered death and she is a living testimony of Grace.
We at BarristerNG.com celebrate Miss Ufuoma Peace Oghenerume and wish her full and speedy recovery.
