The Bar to Imbibe ICT in the Scheme of Things – Chief R. O. Balogun

WAY TO GO NOW IS ICT. What is constant my learned friends is change. The Bar cannot afford to be an island in the comity of Bar Associations all over the globe.

We need to put ICT FIRST in the scheme of doing things. Why must we print out our application for STAMP AND SEAL AND SUBMIT TO THE NATIONAL SECRETARIAT? Can’t we apply online and individual giving a code and lets experiment the workability of printing online a customised Stamp?

The Secretariat of NBA is the engine room. It must be manned by a progressively minded person, bold, unassuming and ICT compliant.

There must be a drastic positive change in the ways we run the Secretariat so as to take care of the needs and welfare of our members who must pay for virtually everything and with little things in return.

When I served as the SECRETARY AND CHAIRMAN OF ILORIN BRANCH, MY BLUEPRINT was centred around two things: WELFARISM AND PROFESSIONALISM. Members of Ilorin Branch of NBA were proud to belong to the BAR.

The young lawyers benefited from our Seven cars for free, I introduced WIFI in the Secretariat and equiped the Library with books and donated COMPUTER WITH E-LAW REPORTS at NBA ILORIN LIBRARY in which I donated split Aircondition to make the Library conducive for research work.

We started WELFARE ACCOUNT AND NBA ILORIN NON- INTEREST CO OPERATIVE SOCIETY for Lawyers.
I initiated Yusuf Ali SAN Lap Top/ Ipad Revolving SCHEME with Five Million Naira and hundreds of Lawyers especially junior lawyers became owners of Laptop and the project ease their works in the secretariat with MY WIFI in which I was personally paying the subscription on monthly basis.

TIME IS NOW THAT MEMBERS MUST BE PROUD TO BELONG TO NBA. OLD THINGS MUST BE IN THE PAST. We can effect the necessary changes and innovations.

I TRULY CARE AND YOU ARE DEFINITELY IN MY MIND. GOD BLESS YOU.

CHIEF RAFIU OYEYEMI BALOGUN, BALOO.
(PAST SECRETARY, FORMER CHAIRMAN, ILORIN BRANCH AND INCUMBENT NATIONAL LEGAL ADVISER).
