Tambuwal Replaces Dan’iya As PDP’s Sokoto Guber Candidate

Gov Aminu Tambuwal

The incumbent governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has replaced Mallam Manir Dan’iya as the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] governorship candidate for the 2019 general election.

Mallam Dan’iya was the immediate past Commissioner for Local Government Affairs in the state.

Delegates from the 23 local government areas of the state converged at the party’s secretariat on Sunday night and endorsed Tambuwal as their governorship candidate.

A chieftain of the party told Daily Trust that the former commissioner voluntarily stepped down for his boss.

He also stated that their late night meeting was to reaffirm Tambuwal’s candidature.

Tambuwal was readopted following his failure to clinch the PDP 2019 presidential election in Port Harcourt during the party’s presidential convention.

During the convention, Tambuwal was runner-up behind former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who emerged the winner.
