In a report made available to BarristerNG, the Secretary of Abuja Branch, Chidi Ezenwafor detailed the numerous effort and assistance made by the branch to assist their member.

Below is the Report

Good afternoon Learned Senior Advocates, respected Elders, Seniors and Colleagues, further to our report yesterday, the NBA Abuja Branch has been monitoring the progress of the matter as relates to Mr. Benson Aigbojie.

Allegations were brought against him by one Kelvin a suspect in a fraud case consequent upon which, he was arrested and taken to NPF Zone 2 office in Lagos where he was detained since yesterday. Mr. Benson Aigbojie has just been granted bail this afternoon by the Police in whose custody he has been since his arrest on Saturday the 3rd of August 2019.

His bail was consequent upon the retraction of the allegation earlier made against him by the suspect in the said fraud case, one Kelvin who had earlier in his written statement implicated Benson Aigbojie as part of the fraud. The said Kelvin now claims that he implicated Benson Aigbojie because he believed that if he implicates Benson Aigbojie, Benson will use his influence and contacts as a lawyer to get him a soft landing in the case, having orally retracted the implicating statement and proceeding to write another one exonerating Benson Aigbojie from the earlier allegations, Benson Aigbojie has been granted bail and is presently on his way to the Airport to return to Abuja.

The Chairman of NBA Ikorodu Branch stood surety for him and also purchased a flight ticket for him back to Abuja, the Branch in her commitment to provide support for her members is in touch with him to ensure upon arrival, he gets home safely, further to the support the branch provided to Benson Aigbojie while in incarceration over the malicious allegations made against him, the Branch upon Benson Aigbojie’s Appeal to send a lawyer to hold his brief in two matters coming up before the magistrate court Kubwa today for hearing, I led a team of lawyers made up of Myself, Messrs. Maduabuchi O. Idam Esq., Raymond Ashikeni Esq. and Isaac Stephen Esq. to appear in court today where we successfully held the brief of Benson Aigbojie in the said matters.

The branch also following the continued interactions between the Branch Chairman, Myself and Maduabuchi Idam, has received today through the Branch Secretariat a comprehensive petition addressed to the NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) Chairman Mr. Abimbola Kayode on what transpired at the Kabusa Police Station on Saturday the 3rd of August 2019.

Consequent upon the receipt of the said petition, we have already engaged the NPF FCT Command under whose Jurisdiction the events occurred and are following up on same. We have updated the NBA National Leadership on the developments so far and shall continue to update our members as the need arises.

Signed
Chidi Ezenwafor
