The United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) and National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) recently organised a 5 day sensitisation workshop funded by the Bereau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the US Department of State.

The workshop held between 10th – 15th June 2019 at Vichi Gate Hotel and Suites, 68 Ihama Road, Benin, Edo State.

The theme of the workshop is “Strengthen the Capacities of State and Non-State Institutions to Assist, Support and Protect Victims of Trafficking in Nigeria”


The sensitisation workshop was on the need to ensure improved access to justice for victims of trafficking.

It featured seasoned facilitators from the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) and National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), funded by the US Department of States on International Narcotics Law.

BarristerNG gathered that Participants at the workshop were representatives of the NBA, Nigerian Police, Nigerian Immigration Service, NACTAL, FIDA and other non-governmental organisations and civil society groups.

At the conclusion of the workshop, recommendations to improve access to justice for victims of trafficking were made.
