PDP wins Dogara’s state constituency in Bauchi
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mohammed Musa, has been declared winner of the Lere/Bula State Constituency in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The council is one of the three local government areas that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, represents.
The results of the local government were earlier cancelled by the state Returning Officer, Prof Kyari Mohammed, following the declaration by the Collation Officer of the area, Mrs Dominion Anosike, that the collation process was disrupted by armed thugs and the original results taken away.
The headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, sent a committee led by the National Commissioner Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, to investigate the circumstances that led to the cancellation.
The committee, after its investigations, recommended that the results of the local government be regenerated and re-collated.
Musa polled 29,933 votes to defeat his closest rival, Murtala Ibrahim of the All Progressives Congress, who got 25,210 votes.
