PUBLICITY SECRETARY’S ANNUAL REPORT
CONFERENCE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (NEC)
REPORT OF THE NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY
Dear colleagues, distinguish members NEC members, I greet you all.
It is my pleasure to stand before this great gathering to give account of my stewardship within the short period I served the association as National Publicity Secretary. No doubt, the publicity office of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) became vibrant and responsive to the publicity needs of the association with my inauguration as the Publicity of the association at the Uyo National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting.
Immediately after my inauguration as the Publicity Secretary of our great association on November 24, 2017, after spending a year and three Months in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) which gave me judgment on October 17,2017 by restoring my mandate, I swung into action immediately with a view to having a systematic and organized communication activities that will bridge the communication gap between the NBA and the Nigerian publics, so that Nigerians will appreciate the association and its numerous programmes to positively impact the lives of Nigerians.
Consequently I initiated and started the publication of the Nigerian Bar Newsletter. The Nigerian Bar Newsletter is an electronic Newsletter which is circulated to all verified lawyers in the NBA database through the NBA Secretariat via our Website.
I can say without fear of contradiction that I have given the association, its members and programmes more publicity than any other Nigerian journalist/ lawyer dead or alive. This is largely due to my communication background and editorial job at The Nation newspapers which keeps me close to the association at all times irrespective of who is driving its affairs.
The activities and programmes of the NBA has since my assumption of office received monumental increase and awareness in both the traditional and the digital media because of the commitment, hard work and dedication of the communication team of the secretariat, Office of the President of the NBA (OPNBA), the Publicity Office ( Assistant Publicity Secretary, Mr. Chuks Mbamala) and my colleagues in the industry who have worked with me and have given maximum publicity to the programmes of the NBA at minimal cost.
At this point 1 express my sincere gratitude the General Secretary of the NBA, Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju and the Treasurer, Aisha Ado Abdullahi, other National officers and Secretariat staff for giving me maximum cooperation within the short period I served the association as the National Publicity Secretary. I really appreciate all your support and encouragement to me at all times especially during my trial times. I thank God for the privilege of working with all of you and will always cherish the good memory of our friendship and relationship. May God bless you all.
I thank the President of NBA, Mr. Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud OON, SAN, a fine gentleman for providing us leadership and direction to pursue his vision of ABraveNewBar. Thank you very much and may God bless you sir
Finally, I thank you all and wish my successor in office a very successful and impactful tenure. Kindly extend the same hands of fellowship to him to achieve his vision for our great association. I will always give my humble support and assistance when needed. Thank you once again for the opportunity to serve.
May God bless the NBA and the Federal Republic of Nigeria
