NBA Lekki Forum Ready for #NBAAGC2019, Sets up YLF, Partners IYF and Nigerian Correctional Service for September 2019 Seminar edition

Arising from its Emergency Executive Committee Meeting held on Wednesday, 21st August, 2019, the Lekki Forum of the Nigerian Bar Association at its Secretariat, lying, being and situate at Suite 16, Ama-Bec Plaza, Addo-Badore Road, Ajah, Lekki, Lagos State has declared its readiness for the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association, commencing on Friday, 23rd August, 2019 to Thursday, 29th August, 2019. This was made known in a press statement signed by Oladotun Hassan, Chairman and Ayodele Ademiluyi, Secretary of the Lekki Forum respectively.

The statement further added that the meeting set up a Conference Planning Committee for the Forum with Mr. Briggs Azubuike Amajuoye the Publicity Secretary of the Forum as Chairman, Mr. Olowu O. Olowu, the Welfare Secretary as Secretary of the Committee , Prince Joel, the Social Secretary of the Forum as Member, Joan Ohwaguono , the Assistant Social Secretary as Member and Femi Fangnon, the Chairman of the Young Lawyers Forum of Lekki Forum as Member. In a related development, the statement revealed that Lekki Forum has perfected preparations for heavy publicity of the Lekki Forum at the Annual General Conference, leveraging on the outdoor media expertise of its Vice Chairman, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Loatsad Promomedia, Lekki-based Lagos outdoor advertising giant.

The statement added that Lekki Forum is proud to announce its Oceanview Lekki Bar White Party on Wednesday, 28th August, 2019 at Oceanview Club Trojan Lounge, Beside the Lekki High Court Building, Addo Road, Ajah , Lekki Lagos State from 9pm till fade, Dress Code: White.

The statement also highlighted that Lekki Forum will actively participate in all the activities of the Annual General Conference starting with the Jummat Service on Friday, 23rd August, the Fitness Walk and Opening of Friendship Centre on Saturday, 24th August and the Sunday Service with the Pre-AGC National Executive Committee Meeting on Sunday, 25th August, 2019 to push further for its approval for Branch status by the National Executive Committee. The statement announced the setting up of the Young Lawyers’ Forum of the Lekki Forum. The statement stated that Mr. Femi Fangnon will act as Chairman alongside his Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers’ Forum. The statement underlined the rationale for the setting up of the YLF as the prioritisation of the interests and welfare of young lawyers. The YLF of the Lekki Forum will aim to draw young lawyers within the Ikoyi-Victoria Island- Lekki- Ajah-Ibeju Lekki jurisdiction of the Forum into the Forum in view of the accelerated work on the Lekki High Court Building , which will give lightening speed to the application for the full Lekki Branch, pending before the National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association.

The statement also highlighted the top gear preparations for the September 2019 edition of the Monthly Knowledge Sharing Seminar Series of the Forum. The statement added that the Forum has entered into collaboration with the International Youth Fellowship, a South Korea- based correctional training foundation for correctional and legal officers. The statement added that by a Special Resolution of the Emergency Executive Committee Meeting, the Monthly Knowledge Sharing Seminar Series which holds statutorily every second Tuesday of the month will now hold on the first Tuesday in September to coincide with 3rd September, 2019, the date of the Mind-Set Education Training/Presentation of the International Youth Fellowship.

According to the statement, the September 2019 Seminar Edition will feature a Synergised Knowledge Sharing Seminar and Mind-Set Education Training/Presentation with the theme , “Nigerian Correctional Service Act 2019: Any Vista for Prison Reforms in Nigeria?” in a tripartite alliance of International Youth Fellowship, Nigerian Bar Association, Lekki Forum and Nigerian Correctional Service, Zone ” A” Command Headquarters, Ikoyi, Lagos State. The Seminar will feature two Guest Speakers, Pastor Her Jin Park and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who will speak to theme, ” Nigerian Correctional Service Act 2019: Any Vista for Prison Reforms in Nigeria?”.

The Seminar which will hold at the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ikoyi will also feature Correctional Skills Acquisition and Life Enhancement Training Programme for inmates of Ikoyi Correctional Service by Puri Global Northgate Group led by its Group Managing Director, Mr. Sam Ebe; a multinational company involved in production of cabinets , parqeut flooring, paints, appliances, granite tiles and prorclain , aluminium rail and turnkey building solutions with its head office at Km 25, Lekki -Epe Expressway, Opposite Lagos State University, Lekki Campus, Oko Ado, Lekki, Lagos State, this epoch making September series promises to be an enlightening one for lawyers and correctional officers.
