Journey so Far with Appreciation for End of Tenure and Apologies By J.A Atanawhemera

Learned SANs, Seniors and Esteemed Colleagues, please permit me to crave your indulgence to take you through a brief memory lane while I do appropriate your overwhelming supports in the last 2 years to me.

At about this time June, 2016, you elected me to the Office of the Publicity Secretary, NBA Abuja, Unity Bar to serve you in that regard and immediately thereafter, the Office of the Chairman and Secretary, was rocked with leadership tussle.

All efforts by Senior Members of the Branch to settle the scuffle was all to no avail until about a year later that NBA Aba – NEC laid it to rest based on constitutionality of the NBA.

As a result of the then prevailed circumstances, I was privileged to serve with: 1. Mr. Victor Abasiakan-Ekim (The Elected Chairman – 2016) 2. Mr. Caleb Dajan (Chairman, 3Man Caretaker Committee – 2017) and Princess Frank-Chukwuani led EXCO – 2017 – 2018.

In all of the above administrations, your supports and prayers enabled me to discharge my duties per time through the grace of God upon my life and hereby return to say many thanks to you with gratitude to God.

In between the above administrations, while trying to balance my private life with respect to my Fatherly duties by checkmating a denied fatherly access to an innocent Child I brought to this complex World, I was engulfed with a marital scandal of a marriage which had broken down irretrievably long before my emergence as Publicity Secretary of the Branch. Facts were twisted by the camp of the enemies with a view to demoralized and pull my person and career down but again Members of the Unity Bar stood by me in prayers and the God of vengeance made me to conquered with undeniable proofs.

Therefore, I cannot but say again MANY THANKS to Learned SANs, Seniors and my Esteemed Colleagues of the Unity Bar for overwhelming show of love which could have been made possible only by the special grace of God.

And so, I am humbled to apologize at this junction to those who think I am proud… for one reason or the other…, I am sincerely sorry for creating such an impression..! Pls forgive me.

To those who think I’ve ignored them in the course of carrying out my official duties, I am really sorry. Pls forgive me.

To those who felt offended by my attitude or character prior to my emergence, during or hereinafter…! I, apologize… Pls forgive me.

To all those who expected an official or unofficial visit which I didn’t visit or call during this 2 Years… I am sorry… Pls accept my apology and forgive me.

To those who I caused any hurt by words or action…, I apologize for my behavior… Pls forgive me. To those whose promises I didn’t fulfill…, I wish I still can but still.. I apologize. Pls forgive me.

To those who felt I am too serious and not friendly at times…, I am really sorry if I caused any one to stay away from me… I apologize. Pls forgive me.

To the newly sworn-in EXCO, I wish them well while my prayers goes to God for all of them (particularly, the Chairman) for a surpassing divine wisdom to serve and lead the Unity Bar at this time.

I love you because without you, I wouldn’t have been elected and there would be no one to call Learned SAN, my Learned Senior, Esteemed Colleague, my Friend, Uncle, Aunt, Brother or Sister…‎!

May God fight for each and everyone of you and your respective families anytime the camp of the enemy rise up like a flood against you in Jesus name…

Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria…!

Long Live Nigerian Bar Association…!

Long Live Unity Bar🙏🤝🎻🥂Cheers.

J.A Atanawhemera, Esq, NPN, Dip.

Immediate past Publicity Secretary, NBA Abuja, Unity Bar.
