Anambra Branches of NBA to Boycott Courts for 3 days over hike in filling fees
The Branches of Nigerian Bar Association in Anambra State have resolved to boycott court for 3 days to protest the exorbitant hike in filling fees as contained in the new court rules of the state.
This is contained in a press release by the lawyers this evening and signed by Paschal C. Ugwuanyi Esq, the Chairman of the Chairmen of Branches.
Below is the Press Statement;
Rising from the meeting of committee of chairmen and secretaries of NBA Anambra state held on 4/6/2019 at Nnewi,the following resolutions were reached viz:
(1) The Anambra state government has refused to take any actions against the hike on filing fees in our courts after our complaints.
(2)In view of paragraph (1) above, all lawyers in Anambra state shall boycott all courts in Anambra state commencing from Monday, 10th day of June ,2019 to12th day of June, 2019.
(3) The said boycott shall act as a call on Anambra state government to come to the cries of the masses and take necessary actions in the overall interest of the masses, but failing which, further drastic measures shall be taken against the government of Anambra state.
(4) Branch chairmen of all branches of NBA in Anambra state must ensure that all lawyers shall comply with these resolutions.
