Adoption Scandal: Middle Belt Lawyers Forum (MBLF) “Publicity Secretary” denies forum Membership, threatens court action

T.D. Sorkaa, a Co-opted NEC Member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Makurdi Branch, Benue State, has expressed shock and disappointment at a Letter credited to Mr. Emmanuel Haruna, the Chairman Middle Belt Lawyers Forum(MBLF).

The purported letter indicated on the letter head that Mr. Sorkaa is the Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Lawyers Forum.

In response Mr. Sorkaa stated that he has never been a member of the Middle Belt Lawyers forum nor elected into any position of the association.

Mr. Sorkaa in strong words rejected and declined any involvement with MBLF and their said decision on adoption. He threatened to approach the court against the Leaders of MBLF if they fail to retract their illegal act with his name.

10th July, 2018

PRESS RELEASE

I woke up to my amazement to see my name as Publicity Secretary of Middle Belt Lawyers Forum (MBLF) on a letter head dated 7th July, 2018 and signed by Emmanuel Akowe Haruna, Esq., Chairman, Middle Belt Lawyers Forum on adoption of candidates for the forthcoming national elections of NBA.

I wish to state that am not a member of MBLF nor was I elected nor appointed as Publicity Secretary of MBLF. I challenge anyone to show anywhere my name is amongst members of MBLF.

Moreover, I state that the purported adoption is void in law since I have never attended any meeting of MBLF from inception till date.

Finally, I won’t hesitate to take the leaders of MBLF to court if they don’t retract the illegal adoption with my name on their letter head. I rest my case.

T.D. Sorkaa, Esq.
Co-opted NEC Member, NBA, Makurdi Branch, Makurdi,
Benue State.
